Desert-Born Summer ’24 – Chapter ll
WHY WILL EVERYTHING BE THIS WAY?
They say you need to go on vacation to air out your mind and truly rest.
So I did.
But what about those of us whose suitcases secretly get climbed into by muses — who, in the middle of “clearing their heads,” find their thoughts turning toward corners that remind them of what they left back home… WORK?
There they are — red and blue sun umbrellas dotting the horizon.
In a little local shop, a towel winks at me in matching stripes.
The chairs at our chosen hotel, “as if by accident,” dressed in tempting striped patterns, invite me to sit down.
It’s said that if you want to never work a day in your life, you must fall in love with what you do — and once you do, work no longer feels like work.
It seems my story is heading exactly that way. At least when it comes to travel — and the steady stream of impressions I bring back from it.
With most of the Summer I Drop outfits packed into my suitcase, I found myself turning toward “maritime” inspirations, quietly rejoicing that after returning from a romantic escape along the Amalfi Coast, I could dive headfirst into Summer’s continuation — the one that had been gently tugging at my heart with that holiday feeling all along the journey.
For this Summer extension, I chose nautical stripes.
And as the launch date approaches, I’m certain it was the right decision.
Those cozy, playful stripes lift the holiday mood like a thermometer rising toward the sun rolling across a bright blue summer sky.
